Programs & Services

The following major programs seek to awaken people's ecological sensibilities and to transform lifestyles, institutional practices, and social policies to support the community of life.

  • Greening Higher Education seeks to transform college and university operations, curricula, research, and outreach to embody and teach sustainability through University Leaders for a Sustainable Future.
  • Global Earth Ethics promotes ecocentric ethics and values to guide development policies and professional practices.
  • Religion in the Ecological Age supports initiatives to assist religious leaders, academics and institutions to express their concern for animals and the earth.
  • The Animals and Society Courses and the annual Course Awards aim to expand the number of college courses concerned with animal ethics, animal rights, and/or animal welfare.
  • The Thomas Berry Award & Lecture: Honoring the great work and vision of Thomas Berry, CRLE has hosted annual symposiums in celebration of major contributors to mutually enhancing human-earth relationships.
